09:15 Italian breakfast with cappuccino or espresso and fresh ‘’cornetto’’ (the Italian name for croissant) on the main square, the Piazza del Popolo. We will then give you a brief introduction to the world of Brunello wine. After breakfast we will drive into the countryside for a wine tasting of Brunellos and some other wines of the region.
10:30 We will visit small family winery for private guided tour, which will be completed with wine tasting. You will taste 4-5 different wines, including Brunello di Montalcino of 2 different vintages and othe younger wines, produced by the winemaker. During this visit you can explore the vineyards, go down to the cellar and learn about the process of fermentation and vinification. You should definitely snap a picture of yourself in front of the Slavonian oak barrels and soak in the history of the winery; and don’t be afraid to ask questions of the owner and wine-maker!
13:00 For lunch we will sample some of the typical dishes from Montalcino in one of the city’s finest restaurants, accompanied by a glass of wine.
