"Jazz & Wine" Montalcino, 2017
This year Montalcino "Jazz & Wine" festival celebrates its XXth aniversary with excellent compositions and just unbelievable bands. Jazz lovers will be in trouble to choose which night to attend.
The format of the Festival has being slightly changed. Jazz nights start at Castello Banfi property 6, 13 and 18th of july. Starting from 19th to 23rd of july the concerts will be hold in the medieval fortress "La Fortezza" in the historical center of Montalcino.
Lets get to know closer jazz bands of this year:
19 th of july - The orchestra "Jazz and Wine" with the participation of Marcello Rosa and special guest Philippo Porta (percussion), and the world famous saxophonist Stefano di Battista, will present to your attention compositions dedicated to Be-Bop.
20th of july - Robert Glasper's experiment. Robert Glasper devoted his life to the world of subtle sounds. The result of his work were 2 Grammy Awards . Most recently, he released his new CD, dedicated to "Blue Nights", an eclectic album with an extraordinary sound.
21st of july - Roy Hargrove quintet. Roy Horgroove is one of the most authoritative trumpeters in todays Jazz world. He has released more than 17 solo albums and recorded numerous co-authors albums. He won worldwide notice after winning two Grammy awards for differing types of music, in 1997 and in 2002.
22nd of july - Enrico Rava and Tomasz Stanco quintet european trumpet legends. Very unique and original, with its own stilistic solutions. The original music of this new project is specially written by Stanko and Rava to create a modern, lyrical, engaging and exciting jazz. Two different trumpet sounds in a single band. Not a race or a contest, but a modern blend of personality to create distinctive moments. Modern jazz as you have never heard, fascinating and exciting. A real enlightenment of the individual voices of each of these extraordinary musicians. They lead a quintet with Desron Douglas, Gerald Cleaver and young pianist Giovanni Guidi.
23rd of july - Danilo Rea. "Something in our way" - The Beatles and Rolling Stones performed by Danilo Rea. Songs by J. Lennon, McCartney and Harrison in interlacing with the compositions of Jagger and Richards, from the melody "Let it be" - to "Angie". Danilo creates and mixes sounds in unbelieavable way, he creates new music. Dynamic one man show.
